Where to Take in Stunning Oregon Views in Spring

The Pacific Northwest is known for its breathtaking sights, and Oregon is home to its share of picturesque views. No matter what you’re doing during your vacation at Black Butte Ranch, you are surrounded by Mother Nature’s beauty. However, there are some views that can’t be missed once spring starts to make its arrival known. Keep reading for some of our favorite sights both on and off the Ranch.

A Checklist of Unbeatable Views Near Sisters

Spring in Sisters means increasing temperatures and melting snow that make way for lush flora. If you’re staying at our Central Oregon resort between March and May, take time to relax while surrounding yourself with panoramic views.

1. See if you can catch a glimpse of horses galloping in the meadow as you stroll through the Aspen grove.
2. Just off our nature trail is a plank bench that’s one of the best spots on the Ranch to soak in views.
3. Depending on when you visit, the grounds surrounding Homestead Lake will be covered in blooming wildflowers and lupines.
4. Watch the sunset over the Cascade mountains from the Aspen Lounge deck atop the Lodge.
5. Make your way to the Dee Wright Observatory, perched atop the McKenzie Pass. From here, you can take in sweeping views of the Cascades.
6. Our Ranch is named for the Black Butte Lookout. Hike a 3.6-mile trail to reach the summit and enjoy views of Cascade Peaks and Oregon nature.
7. Hike an easy 1.25-mile trail to reach one of the most photographed spots in Oregon: Proxy Falls.
8. Another popular water feature is the McKenzie River Waterfalls. A 3-mile loop offers views of both Sahalie and Koosah Falls.
9. Enjoy views of the Three Sisters’ peaks and the Whychus Creek Wild and Scenic River Area from the Whychus Creek Lookout. You will need to walk a mile-long accessible trail to reach the lookout.
