The current Central Oregon weather could hardly be better, reaching well into the 70s here at Black Butte Ranch. With such fine days ahead, golfers are not surprisingly antsy to get back on course.
On such a perfect day, just how much golf is too much golf? Is there such a thing? Seems hard to imagine, especially when enjoying the challenge and beauty of Big Meadow and soon Glaze Meadow, which is scheduled to open the season on May 12.
Through May and well into June, Black Butte Ranch is giving golfers the opportunity to find out just what is their particular limit.
On Sundays through Thursday through June 15 (excluding May 28-28), Black Butte Ranch is offering a very special deal that fits just about every type of golfer: frugal players, cart riders, and those who yearn to play all the holes they can handle. For $49 golfers can play 18, $59 includes both 18 holes and the use of a cart, and $69 includes unlimited golf and the use of a cart.
“I think the $49-$59-$69 deal is one of the best deals we have ever offered,” said Jeff Fought, Black Butte Ranch’s longtime director of golf. “There is freedom that an unlimited golf deal brings: You can play from sun up to sundown, or less if you so choose, at rates that most any golfer can afford. The deal is perfect to usher in the peak of the golf season.”
Black Butte Ranch’s weekend spring rates are affordable, too.
Through May 18, green fees are $54 at either Big Meadow or Glaze Meadow. After 1 p.m. that rate drops to $49. Golfers with a bit less time on their hands can play nine holes after 2 p.m. for $29. On May 19, our shoulder season rates begin: $69 in prime time, $59 after 1 p.m., and $39 for nine holes after 3 p.m.
The inexpensive rates coupled with the choice of two championship golf courses that are inching toward peak season conditions — especially the tees and greens that came out of winter in particularly excellent shape — make spring an appealing time to play.
In addition, the summer crowds have yet to gather, which can make for a quick round and an opportunity to squeeze in a few extra holes before the sun sets.
“May tends to be a fun month to play golf in Central Oregon, and our locals who are really in the know tend to take advantage,” Fought said. “The weather finally warms up, the course conditions are whipping into shape, and we offer some of our most competitive rates of the season. Is there a better to get the golf season started?”
