Black Butte Ranch set to tee off season with opening of Big Meadow on Thursday, April 6
After long winter, the 2017 golf season begins with nine holes and driving range
As just about any Central Oregonian will tell you, this winter has been a doozy. Finally, though, the snow has melted and the golf courses at Black Butte Ranch are beginning to blossom.
This can mean only one thing. At long last, the 2017 golf season at Black Butte Ranch is set to tee off. Beginning Thursday, April 6, Big Meadow, will open both the front nine and the driving range to golfers. This will be followed by the scheduled full opening of all 18 holes at Big Meadow on Friday, April 14 (weather permitting, of course).
Golfers are expected to get their first crack at Glaze Meadow during the Central Oregon Shootout, April 27-30. Then Glaze Meadow is expected to officially open for the season on Friday, May 12.
But first things, first. We have a golf season to get underway.
“It will be fantastic just to see golfers out here again,” says Jeff Fought, Black Butte Ranch’s director of golf. “This has not been the shortest winter, but the course is just about ready and we’re expecting a busy weekend. I, for one, can’t wait to get this golf season started.”
With the Masters set to tee off on Thursday, golf should already be on the mind of those who love the game. So little enticement to get back on course is likely to be needed. Still, it won’t hurt that the beginning of the golf season coincides with one of our best values of the golf season.
Through April, Black Butte Ranch will be offering UNLIMITED golf for just $44 per person, and cart is an additional $12 per person. In addition, golfers will receive a free Black Butte Ranch logo golf cap with a paid green fee.
The annual hat deal is typically among Black Butte Ranch’s most popular offerings.
Of course, as any golfer knows, there is something about the blooming azaleas at Augusta National that motivates golfers to shake off the winter doldrums and get back on the course.
“Few things in this game say ‘Let’s play golf,’ quite like the Masters,” Fought says. “The sights and sounds of the world’s most prestigious golf tournament breeds excitement each and every year. And after the winter we just had, I expect that to be even more so. I can already feel the energy that comes from the start of the golf season.”
