Golfers need to think about where their swing finishes
Amateur golfers — especially mid- and high-handicappers — often spend much of their focus worrying about where the ball goes. But the results of a given swing can be misleading, and worrying too much about it can often be counterproductive.
Every golfer longs for a consistent, repeatable swing that will provide good results time and time again.
One thing that amateur golfers should think about with every swing is exactly where the golf swing finishes. Do you finish with your club over your shoulder and the majority of your weight firmly on your front foot? Or is your finish different with each swing, and you often find yourself needing to regain your balance while the ball flies through the air?
If your swing resembles the latter question, than it is imperative that you try to find a consistent finishing point.
“One thought you should have on the golf course is always getting to a nice, balanced finish,” Fought said. “It is is so crucial for you to come through on the right plane,”
A balanced finish is a tell-tale sign that your swing dialed on where it should be.
The good news, finding that right finish does not require a swing overhaul. In fact, for most golfers it’s more a matter of thought.
Golfers should focus on their weight “flowing to their left leg” though the swing and that their club finishes with a relatively high finish. (Or as Tom Watson says: “Finish high to hit it high.”)
This should help produce a higher, more consistent ball flight.
