Phalarope Lake is the perfect place to learn to fly fish, with Big Meadow behind you there is little for that fly to get hung up on and the views are spectacular.
Free Fly Fishing Clinics
We offer FREE fly fishing clinics with The Fly Fisher's Place on Tuesdays at 7:00PM from June 24 - August. Meet on the lawn at the Rec Center. Fly fishing gear may be rented from the Rec Center. Check the Weekly Rec Guide for dates.
Fly Fishing Rental Gear
Orvis Fly rod rental at the Rec Center (must be 12 years or older)
$5/hour, $10 / 1/2 day, $20 / full day.
Daily fishing license $12, flies $2
Phalarope Lake Fly Fishing
Fly fishing for trout is allowed on the Ranch only in Phalarope Lake by the Lodge. Please save the other lakes for the wildlife. Barbless hooks & “catch and release” procedures are required. An Oregon fishing license is needed. The Rec Center sells daily licenses and flies and rents fly rods. (Must be 12 years or older to use the fly rods.)
The Metolius River

Guided Fly Fishing Trips & Lessons
The Fly Fisher's Place in Sisters offers a variety of fly fishing experiences in the area, as well as Fly Fishing Schools that include all equipment. Float trips are available on the Deschutes, McKenzie and South Santiam rivers. Walk-wade trips are available on the Crooked River, Upper McKenzie and the North Santiam Rivers.
